As we go through life, we can sometimes feel overwhelmed, tight, hurt physically and emotionally, deprived of sleep and pushing ourselves just that little bit more?
All of these sensations are inflicting stress in our nervous system. This is the system that runs throughout our entire body and is in charge of maintaining health in the physical, emotional and intellectual aspects by providing equilibrium for the necessary interactions among every other system including circulatory, immune, hormonal, digestive, muscular, respiratory and more.
Because different areas of our bodies are affected, it is important to treat them with different modalities, according to the needs of each area. Thus, the necessity for complementary therapies that support the body’s recovery to address physical aches and pains, acute or chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances, and help to develop wellbeing and vitality.

Lymph Drainage Therapy involves the use of gentle manual techniques to aid in the circulation of lymph fluid, which carries immune cells throughout the body and collects toxic particles that are to big to picked up by the veins. The proper circulation of the lymphatic system is of utmost importance for the regulation of the hormonal, immune and nervous systems.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Cardiovascular Therapy are manual modalities consisting of soft, still touch which assist the body’s natural capacity for self-repair. The treatment is focused on supporting the health of the whole body, but specially that of the nervous system in Craniosacral work, and that of the circulatory/cardiovascular system in Cardiovascular work. Most people find the sessions pleasant and relaxing, often feeling as if things are reorganizing inside them.

Visceral Manipulation is a soft, hands-on manual therapy consisting of gentle compression and mobilization of the viscera and the connective tissues that surround it. By freeing the mobility of the organs we address not only physical pain and discomfort but a whole array of negative emotions associated with simple but continued stomach aches or heartburn, feeling faint, ulcers, and serious diseases.

Yellow RoseThe proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to drain stagnant fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and maintain a healthy immune system. The LDT process involves the use of gentle manual maneuvers to aid in the re-circulation of body fluids.

Lymph Drainage Therapy is one of the best therapeutic methods to relieve:

Sinus Congestion – Allergies – Migraines – Chronic Headaches – Also, as a result of better fluid flow in the neck, face and head, reflecting pain in the shoulders, upper back and neck will be considerably reduced. You will have an added benefit on your wrinkles and skin complexion: lymph drainage hydrates the skin, nurtures wrinkles, removes toxins, regenerates skin tissue, tones skin and relaxes facial muscles.
Arm and hand numbness and tingling, together with shoulder and/or axillary and chest intermittent pain due to long driving and/or long hours at a computer or desk. Lymph circulation is activated by movement, when we spend long time in static positions, lymph flow becomes sluggish. Two or three sessions of LDT together with some simple self-care techniques will help symptoms to be greatly relieved.
Edemas of different origins – Traumatic, post-infectious, dermatologic, gynecologic, neurologic (neuralgia, multiple sclerosis, …), edemas associated with rheumatism or autoimmune diseases (arthrosis, arthritis, gout, osteoporosis, …)
Hepato-Gastroenterology – Chronic constipation; chronic gastritis; Irritable Bowel Syndrome; diverticulosis, diverticulitis; chronic hepatitis; chronic cholecystitis. (Lymph Drainage Therapy together with Visceral Manipulation)

These are just some of the indications for LDT, consult your doctor or contact me to discus the benefits of Lymph Drainage Therapy for your condition.

Oncology, mastectomy (Breast Cancer Surgery)

Mastectomy can be a life-saving surgery but it also has its side effects. Lymphatic fluid will accumulate in and around the area of surgery leading to swelling, discomfort and pain. Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) gently moves this excess fluid away improving and accelerating the healing process, while providing a greater probability to avoid the development of lymphedema. A number of treatments are required after surgery for full results; you can expect 3-4 sessions a week during 3-4 weeks for the full effect. During this time you will be trained to perform basic drainage on yourself with which you can continue on your own as long as necessary.

You can also prepare for your mastectomy by receiving one or two sessions of LDT before your surgery. This can result in less swelling after the mastectomy and faster recovery.

Yellow RoseBiodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is the next step into whole body healing from Craniosacral Therapy, and so is Cardioceptive Therapy. They are both performed on a massage table with the client fully clothed. The therapist’s approach and touch is soothing, light and still, and through the practice of embodied wholeness and compassion he/she is able to offer the client an atmosphere of trust that allows the client to enter a state of deep rest and relaxation thus facilitating
Release, in a gentle manner, of stress and tension.

Re-setting to a more regulated nervous system functioning, and a more rhythmic heart/cardiovascular performance. When this is accomplished the body and mind become more aware of patterns that may be detrimental for our health. By re-establishing a more rhythmic movement within the nervous and cardiovascular systems, these patterns gradually either disappear or change to a healthier configuration.
As an example of these patterns we could consider in the physical plain: do we tighten and clamp our jaw when stressed, upset, worried? How do we sit in front of the computer or while driving? Do we twist our neck when backing up in the car? Consider that the body is a continuum of muscles, tissues and fluid that hold our bone structure together and most of these areas are imbedded with nerve pathways all through. Every single movement involves and affects many other muscles, tissue and fluid fluctuation among the different structures and affects input and output of neurons throughout the nervous system. When a movement, or the lack of it, creates stress in an area and becomes repetitive, we have a detrimental pattern.

Biodynamic Craniosacral and Cardioceptive Therapies gently release these patterns and encourage your body to find new ways of accomplishing the needed tasks in a health-giving way.

At an emotional level we could look into the following: how do we react to the increasing pace of our lives? How do we respond to the demands of work and family? How do we make moments of rest and joy happen? Sensations and feelings are always present, regardless of whether we acknowledge them or not. The typical clichés get over it, I have to make this happen no matter what, we have a deadline here, he/she is just upset he’ll come around… How long can we keep moving forward before we realize that within we are not getting over it; that, yes, we made it happen and/or the deadline was met… at a high, precious cost; that he/she or I just buried the upset, the frustration, the inability to communicate our own opinion or feeling.

With continued Biodynamic Craniosacral and Cardioceptive Therapy sessions, as we become aware of the releasing of tension and pain, we learn to respect and care for ourselves in a more effective and proficient way.

This allows creativity to find new, healthier ways to accomplish our goals while honoring ourselves and the ones we interact with.

Organ Massage, also known as visceral massage or visceral manipulation, is a very gentle abdominal massage. Its purpose is to relieve tension held on the organs contained in the abdominal area, as well as release adhesions between organs and surrounding tissue and fascia.

Digestive problems like gastritis or constipation, post-surgical adhesions, certain types of abdominal and back pain, all of these can be related in one way or another to stress, fast life and overwhelming situations which can derive into insomnia, anxiety and/or general low energy and stamina. You will also learn if you so wish some self-applied movements that can alleviate gas and digestive issues

Organs can become hardened and their walls may develop adhesions. Shallow breathing could be related to adhesions of the respiratory diaphragm with the liver. Releasing these adhesions will allow easier breathing and improve liver and gall bladder function. Similar situations occur with the stomach, developing into acidity, gastritis and/or continual discomfort; with the small and large intestines, restricting the ability to fully assimilate nutrients from the food we eat and making digestion an uncomfortable and even painful process; with kidneys and bladder’s tension and adhesions pain in the lower back and lower abdomen are common.

Organ massage is a soothing way to relieve uncomfortable symptoms and unwind from stress. Together with Biodynamic Craniosacral and/or Lymph Drainage therapies a truly long term relief may be found.
